When the the original rDock was launched it recieved universal acclaim for maximising the sound quality from iPods and early iPhones. The new model not only features the latest charging connecitons for 3G iPhones and second and third generation iPod touches but also features full remote control via an included remote handset.
Like the original rDock the new irDock features switching to allow the connected iPod or iPhone to run from the docks mains power supply or from its internal battery. Running from the battery not only brings about a modest improvement in sound quality but also preseves the life of the iPods batteries which don't like to be constanly charged.
To further increase sound quality Arcam have deployed some of their RF screening techniques meaning the irDocksounds better tan the original unit too. The irDock can be also be dirctly controlled from all of the Solo range of electronics plus the AVR600 and AV888 AV controllers.

- Does not include iPod
- Properly buffered audio output with high performance op-amps and low noise double regulated power supplies - this equates to the best sound quality from an iPod dock
- Gold RCA sockets enabling audiophile cabling to be used with buffered RCA audio outputs
- iPod control from the Arcam Solo remote enabled by irDock connecting to the Solo's RS232 socket (also feeds text to the Solo's front panel display)
- The Arcam irDock charges the iPod whilst connected; charging can be turned off for uses wishing to cycle iPod batteries
- Video output from Video iPod's available as S-Video or Composite on irDock
